The Oregon Band Director Mentorship Program is dedicated to supporting the mission of band directors of all grade levels in our state. We are especially committed to the professional development of new teachers and their transition into the education profession. The project coordinator is OBDA President-Elect, Michael Burch-Pesses from Pacific University in Forest Grove. New teachers may contact him directly to be set-up with a local mentor. Experienced teachers are encouraged to contact Michael with names of new teachers in their area so that he may initiate contact.
To assemble a body of experienced teachers across the state to serve as mentors.
To make contact with all new teachers within the state at the start of each academic year.
To connect all new teachers with an experienced mentor in their region who may serve as a continual resource of information and guidance.
To encourage and promote active involvement of our professional music associations within the state and to highlight the educational opportunities that these associations offer for our students and our teachers.
